     Charles D. Russo, M.D. received a Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University in Bronx, New York and his medical degree from New York Medical College.

     Dr. Russo trained at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut where he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and served as Chief Resident. He completed his Cardiology fellowship at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital where he also served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine for 5 years.

     Dr. Russo joined Cardiology Associates of Fort Lauderdale in 1987. In addition, he has served as Chief of Staff at North Ridge Medical Center. He has actively served as a member of numerous medical organizations in South Florida.

     Dr. Russo is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Lipidology. He recently obtained Level 2 certification in Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. In addition, he is Co-Director of the practice’s accredited Nuclear laboratory. Dr. Russo is a member of various professional organizations and is presently a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

     Dr. Russo has published several medical papers in peer-review journals and has remained active in clinical research. He has received several achievement awards throughout his career and has been recognized by various institutions.

     His areas of interest include clinical cardiology, nuclear cardiology, lipidology and preventative cardiology. He has also written a book The Fort Lauderdale Diet: A Cardiologist’s Solution to the Calorie Calamity.

     Dr. Russo was born in Bronx, New York and has been a Florida resident since 1985. Dr. Russo is married with 4 children.

Darlene Moppert, MS, RD, LD/N

     Darlene Moppert has lead nutrition programs in South Florida for more than three decades and has recently published The Fort Lauderdale Diet, the Cardiologist‘s Solution for the Calorie Calamity. Currently she is the Program Manager for Nutrition Education and Training, Food and Nutrition Services, with Broward County Public Schools. In that role, she has helped craft and implement the District Wellness Policy.

     She has held the positions of: Director, Customer Relations, North Ridge Medical, Director, Diabetes Center, North Ridge Medical Center, Director, Food and Nutrition Services, Plantation General. She has also held adjunct faculty positions at Florida International University and McFatter Technical School, teaching Dietetic Counseling, Diet Therapy Practicum and Organizational Management for School Food and Nutrition Service manager interns.

      Ms. Moppert is a registered dietitian holding both a bachelor (Barry University) and a masters degree (Florida International University) in nutrition and dietetics. She is licensed by the State of Florida as a dietitian/nutritionist. She’s a past president of the Broward County Dietetic Association and the Florida Dietetic Associations. She’s a past delegate to the American Dietetic Association, has served as an exam writer and reviewer for Commission on Dietetic Registration and has serve on the Quality Management Committee of the American Dietetic Association.

     Ms. Moppert has served as spokesperson for her employers in the area of diet and nutrition. She lectures regularly to both lay and professional audiences on multiple topics related to nutrition/dietetics and food service management. From 1999-2007 she served two terms as a member of the Dietetics and Nutrition Practice Council of the Board of Medicine, the state licensing board for nutrition practitioners. She presented in the Spring of 2007 at an American Dietetic Association teleconference on the subject of school wellness policies and has recently completed a chapter on School Food Service in a food service management textbook.
